How facial electrolysis works
The first session on a small area is short: the upper lip or chin usually takes 10–60 minutes, the brows 10–30 minutes. The time depends on how dense and coarse the hair is, and it gets shorter with every visit.
A full course usually takes 1.5–2 years and 12–16 full sessions, 4–6 weeks apart. The face and other small areas go faster than large body areas. With hormonal conditions such as PCOS new hairs can appear, so the course may take longer.
Hair colour doesn't matter: we also remove blonde, red and grey hair and vellus hair that laser can't treat. After previous laser hair removal, the course can take 2.5 years or more.
Most people describe the feeling as a short prick or warmth. If you're worried, start with a consultation that includes a 15-minute trial session. Redness and tiny scabs may appear afterwards; they usually fade within a few days.
Frequently asked questions
Do you remove blonde and grey facial hair?
Yes. Electrolysis works regardless of hair colour. You can tint very fine, light hairs with brow or lash dye the day before so they are easier to see.
Does electrolysis help with PCOS?
It removes existing hair permanently. With hormonal conditions new hairs can still appear, so the course may take longer than usual. We plan your sessions individually at the consultation.
When can I wear make-up after a session?
Avoid make-up and products containing alcohol for the first 24–48 hours. In the following days, protect your skin with SPF 50.
Can I switch to electrolysis after laser?
Yes, it's a common reason people come to us. There's no way to predict when hair will grow back after laser, so a course after laser can take 2.5 years or more.
Do you treat men?
Yes. Men most often remove ear and nose hair and tidy the beard line and nape.
